In TouchOSC Editor, you have to assign a midi message to each control you create in the editor (the controls than can be made are mainly knobs or faders). This is where I am confused at what to do. For my example in my original post, I mapped a fader to CC1 on midi channel 1 and it worked to control Modulation. It goes along with an Editor (Windows and Mac) that allows you to create your own layout with your own controls e.g faders, push buttons, multi toggle buttons X/Y controls etc. And upload that layout to TouchOSC on your mobile device. TouchOSC controls can also to a degree controlled from an Arduino.
Hi Everyone,I have been using TouchOSC to control Ableton and it's amazing to be able to make your own controller. My issues are that the iPad screen is way too small and I don't always have Wi-fi. Is there a similar program for Mac OS where you can setup a GUI of faders and xy's and then have the GUI send midi notes to Ableton (probably using the Mac IAC driver or MIDI Yoke) for mapping? Essentially, I want to have a big touch-screen second monitor that has this GUI full-screen and I can do all my faders w/ that.

Any thoughts? I know Max has all these capabilities, but I heard there's a lot of coding involved. I imagine someone must have made a program where you can drag n drop faders, knobs etc...

TouchOSC is a modular OSC and MIDI control surface for iOS (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad) and Android. It can send TouchDesigner messages via OSC from interactions with its control panels. Custom control panels can be created by using the TouchOSC Editor which is available for Windows/Mac OSX/Linux.

Using TouchOSC with TouchDesigner[edit]
Setting up TouchOSC[edit]
First make sure that the device running TouchOSC and the computer running TouchDesigner are on the same wireless network so they can communicate with each other.
After installing TouchOSC, launch the app and you will see the following screen.
Open the OSC:Disabled menu. Once on this next page, turn on the Enabled switch to reveal the following screen.
On this settings screen, input the IP address of your computer running TouchDesigner. If you do not want to use the default port numbers, change them here as well. Once completed, press the Done button to close the dialog.
Back at the start screen for TouchOSC, select the Layout you would like to use from the Layout menu. When ready, press the Done button.

Open TouchDesigner and create a OSC In CHOP or OSC In DAT. Change the Network Port parameter to be the same port you select in TouchOSC's Port(outgoing) setting. Default is 8000.

Now move or adjust any control in TouchOSC, you will see the incoming values in TouchDesigner.
